Montserrat pen on paper 42 x 28 cm
I am half Catalan. Catalonia is a place I know well but I have never had an extended period of time to work there. Here is a selection of drawings and paintings of the area I have made during my frequent visits and recently I have started to travel around the region more with my sketchbook looking at and working from the landscape.
Montserrat, considered to be the spiritual heart of Catalonia has always been a place I wanted to depict in my work. The beautiful Costa Brava is a coastline I am already familiar with and I have made a number of paintings there.
Barcelona had always struck me as a city waiting to be depicted with countless opportunities and endless inspiration.
This page shows some of the results from my travels so far. All the drawings are made on location. Some paintings are begun on site if possible.
My aim is that one day all this energy and effort will focus into a complete body of work ready to be shown in Barcelona itself.
